HoYoVerse is cracking on accounts and people leaking specifics of its games. According to a study published in Axios, miHoYo – the Shanghai-based owner of the HoYoVerse brand name and parent company of Genshin Impact publisher Cognosphere – requested a California court to subpoena information from the social websites platform Twitter in connection with the identity of an individual running prominent Genshin Impact accounts. 

The subpoena was issued in February 2023 on the part of miHoYo and ask for that Twitter to provide “names, contact numbers, IP addresses, and also other information sufficient to identify” those who run the accounts merlin_impact, GenshlnWorld, and Xwides. These three accounts supply posted leaked information regarding unreleased servings of Genshin Impact.

The causes of the info are sometimes unclear, but likely from test builds on the game distributed to playtesters by miHoYo, or via data mining activities.
